Mark Wasser

Mark Wasser became Of Counsel to KSC January 2019, where he specializes in eminent domain and related matters.

Mark graduated from Hastings College of the Law in 1973.  He was in private practice in Marin County before joining Madera County where he was a deputy counsel and later County Counsel.  Subsequently, he assumed responsibility for managing Pacific Legal Foundation’s Santa Monica Rent Control Project.  In 1985, Mark was appointed General Counsel of the County Supervisors Association and served as a legislative advocate before the State Legislature and as the first director of the County Counsel’s Association litigation coordination program.

In 1987, Mark joined and later became senior partner at Sacramento based law firm McDonough, Holland & Allen. He handled civil litigation and special counsel work for public entities including the City of Las Vegas and its Downtown Redevelopment Authority. He negotiated over 100 eminent domain cases and was responsible for acquiring and assembling properties for the Stratosphere Hotel, the Fremont Street Experience and parking garage, and other projects.  In 2000, he joined Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard where he continued his public agency focused practice.

In 2007, Mark opened his own office in Sacramento where he tried a $127 million eminent domain proceeding to successful jury verdict in Orange County Superior Court. He has also handled multiple wrongful termination and employment cases to successful jury verdicts in United States District Court, Eastern District of California and an inverse condemnation and breach of contract case to successful judgment in Stanislaus County Superior Court.  He currently represents dozens of San Joaquin Valley farmers and landowners in eminent domain proceedings filed by the California High Speed Rail Authority.

During Mark’s career, he has represented McDonald’s Corporation, CBS, Infinity and Viacom Outdoor Advertising companies and many other landowners and condemning authorities in California and Nevada.  He has also represented 29 of California’s 58 counties as special counsel, primarily in litigation.  Following trial court unification, Mark represented 25 of California’s superior courts as special counsel to set up their labor and employment practices and negotiate labor contracts.

Mark is admitted to practice before all courts in California and Nevada and has argued multiple cases before the California and Nevada Supreme Courts.
